Here's my "junky" version of the Nativity scene done with repurposed rustic crates. It's almost identical to how I did it last year. I tried to think up a new way to display it, but I couldn't think of anything I liked better than this so I just did it the same again. We've had so many new followers lately that it might be brand new to some of you.
I've had this Nativity set since Hubby and I got married 10 years ago. I got a great deal on it at a going-out-of-business sale.
The angel is perched atop an old cheese box and next to her is a rustic fabric covered star made from twigs. You can't really see it in the picture, but her wings are rusty! {smile!}
I love using the crates because to me it resembles the rustic-ness of what the stable must have been like. And I like putting the Wise Men separate since they came later and didn't actually come to the stable to visit.
Fresh greenery trimmings from our tree and some faux berries add some Christmasy color, while small strands of lights add a warm inviting glow to it all.
I've had lots of different versions of the Nativity over the years using this set, but this one has been my
favorite so far.
I may have one more post before Christmas, it'll just depend on what kind of extra time I have.
I hope you all are having a very blessed Christmas season so far and spending lots of extra quality time with your family and making many good memories.
Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I really don't know where you could get one. I bought this one almost 13 years ago from a store that was going out of business. I've always thought they resemble the Willow Tree set, so maybe you could try that.
DeleteIt is the Willow Tree Set, Except the angel
ReplyDeleteMy particular set is not the Willow Tree Set, though I've always thought they resembled them just a little. My set was sold by a company that went out of business called My Gift Cottage and it was manufactured by Deer Tree Manufacturing Company I believe.
DeleteHow tall are your pieces?
