Mix-N-Match Spring Table Setting

I don't know about where you live, but here in northern Florida spring is basically gone and done with. We've moved right into hot and humid summer-like weather.  I'm sure most bloggers that are better at keeping up with things than I am are already posting red, white, and blue Memorial Day and/or 4th of July table scape ideas.  I realize I'm quite behind the times posting a spring table setting this late in the game, but if you've been around these here parts long enough then you'll know that's just how I roll.  I feel no obligation to the blogging world's schedule and I'll get to it when I get to it.  :D

 So...on to today's post.  I've had this pale yellow and blue combination on our dining room table since a little before Easter and I have enjoyed it so much.  I decided to get out my mismatched dishes and make a table setting to show you all.  Pretty much everything on the table is second-hand treasures (including the table and chairs themselves).

The blue and white buffalo checked vintage tablecloth was a yard sale find a couple of years ago.  You can tell it had lots of use by the softness and perfectly worn texture it has.  It even has a place where a hole was lovingly stitched up.

The placemats were a recent purchase at a local 2nd hand shop for $1 each, and the canning jars have been collected here and there and we use them everyday to drink from.

The silverware has been collected piece by piece at different yard sales and thrift stores.  None of it matches and I love it.  

The white basket weave plates were a church rummage sale find, and the little vintage dessert plates are from a local thrift store.  I love that each one has a different pattern and color, and some have smooth edges while others have scalloped edges.  We use both style of plates just about every day.

These sweet little lanterns were a thrift store find for $2 each.  I think they were originally from Target.

The pitcher is also a thrift store purchase, and the fresh hydrangea blooms were cut from the yard.

I just love the combination of the checkered and the floral patterns.

I thought it all blended well for a cheery mix-n-match combination.  Simple, everything secondhand, everything cheap....just my style.  :D

In other news, I'm hoping to be able to get the kids' bathroom completed someday before I'm old and feeble.  I've had the sink/vanity and tiles waiting for weeks now, but Hubs has been so busy on the weekends with his side work that we haven't been able to get to it yet.  Someday.....I keep telling myself....someday.

Spring Flowers

Just poppin' in to share some purdy-ness with you.

The lilacs were cut (with permission) from our neighbor's bush, and they smelled AH-mazing!

And the roses came from our yard.

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day.  I know I did.  Hubby cooked breakfast AND dinner after church.  He did good - Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, noodles, corn, and dinner rolls.  And he did all the clean up for the meals.  And after we got home from the evening service I was able to sweet talk him into a foot massage.

Springified!

I'm finally back.  We enjoyed several days of bee-u-tiful weather.  The kiddos and I spent a lot of time playing outside and getting some sun.  We made a sort of last minute weekend trip to Missouri to see my husband's grandmother.  It had been about 3 years since our last visit and we're not sure how much longer she'll be around so we wanted to see her again.  It was a LOT of driving in a short period of time, but it was worth it.  We really enjoyed seeing her and the kids did great.  We're so glad we went.

Anyways, I'm on a sort of Spring break this week.  We got a little bit ahead in my daughter's pre-school homeschooling curriculum so we're taking this week off.  I'm pretty sure I'm more excited about it than she is!

A few weeks ago I saw Donna's post about her Spring mantel and I felt inspired to Spring-ify a bit around here, too.

We made a trip to good ol' Hobby Lobby for some greenery and I added some in an old blue canning jar along with some "river" rock to the shelf above the couch.

I put my floral pillow back on the couch, added a pastel colored old feed sack quilt to the loveseat, added more greenery in a jar to the crate/end table by the couch, and changed out the curtains.

I added a bit of greenery back to this crate display.  I had some here before, but then I moved it elsewhere for a photo shoot and it never made it back.  So I bought more so that I could have it both places.

So this is what the crate display looks like for now.  Notice my Edison Lamp is missing a bulb?  My daughter knocked it over and the bulb shattered into a million pieces.  I'm thankful it wasn't the glass cylinder that shattered, but I haven't been able to find another bulb to replace it yet.  Seems that the local stores are already on the "energy saving" bulb band wagon and no longer carry the one I need.

I'm enjoying the lighter feel of the place.

We just had family pictures done, first time in quite awhile, so I'll be changing out the majority of these pictures on our "gallery" wall above the loveseat.

I haven't forgotten that I promised pictures of the kitchen.  I plan to use my "week off" to complete 2 more projects that have been in limbo.  I also hope to add a few more items to my Etsy store.
